Recently Future, Legacy, Unitas and WEST youth zones all took part in the vibrant Lord’s Mayor’s Show. OnSide had the chance to represent and celebrate the incredible work we do with young people and the energy was electric as we marched through London with young people and other notable charities, each of us decked out in colourful hoodies; waving to the crowds; and celebrating the positively impacts of our charities.
From the very start, the excitement was contagious. Our young people were buzzing with enthusiasm, and it was amazing to see the floats of many other organisations. As we made our way through the streets of London, the sound of drums, cheers, and music filled the air, creating a truly festive atmosphere. We walked beside our float that highlighted our mission, proudly showcasing the art work created by young people of all 4 youth zones.
Bu the real magic was in seeing our members celebrated. Their faces lit up as they waved to the crowd, high-fived onlookers, and danced through the streets of London. It was an amazing feeling to see them so proud, not just of the charity but of themselves. They were the true stars of the day, and we were there to support them every step of the way. By the end of the parade, we were all exhausted but filled with a deep sense of pride and joy.
